De Montfort University
De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) is based in Leicester. It has approximately 27,000 full and part-time students, 3,240 staff and an annual turnover in the region of £168 million. The university is organised into four faculties: Art, Design, and Humanities (ADH); Business and Law (BAL); Health and Life Sciences (H&LS); and Computing, Engineering and Media (CEM). Construction related courses are split between ADH which has the Leicester School of Architecture, and CEM which runs master’s courses in Energy and Sustainable Development, and Energy and Sustainable Building Design (this will be replaced by Sustainable Built Environment from September 2023). It also has degree courses with South and City College Birmingham in Building Services, Civil Engineering and Construction Managment run as collaborative provision but with degreess awarded by DMU. Within CEM, there is research activity related to sustainable buildings and energy, including use of ground storage of heat, energy networks and smart grids.
