Whole Life Carbon – The Next Step
Passivhaus is recognised as the leading standard for energy efficient buildings leading to low carbon emissions. Ultra-low emissions in use shift the focus of building emissions to the embodied carbon – in materials, construction and ultimate disposal. Life cycle analysis, to determine ‘whole life’ carbon emissions, has been carried out by Lincoln University on a Passivhaus in south Manchester, and the results are informing a second Passivhaus proposed in the Midlands.
Presented by Roger Burton, Nvirohaus architect, Lee Bromhall of MBC Timberframe and Rosemary Fieldson of Lincoln University School of Architecture.
