Guest Speaker – Ele George
Ele will explore how systems thinking, a discipline for seeing and managing interrelationships, could be adopted for the construction sector.
Applying a systems thinking approach to sustainability in the built environment helps us to better understand and leverage the cause and effect relationship between our business decisions and their social and environmental consequences. Another benefit is identifying opportunities for innovation in design that works synergistically to solve multiple problems at the same time rather than tolerating trade-offs between (often conflicting) objectives.
As well as tools for system thinking approaches, Ele will provide examples of these approaches in practice. Through the lens of systems thinking we are able to better understand the interrelationships between people, organisations, technology and the environment within which projects are designed, procured and delivered to build holistic resilient communities
