Speakers

Ellie Jenkins

Value Toolkit Integrated Project Lead, Construction Innovation Hub

Ellie initially joined the Hub team to lead engagement, building the industry and government partnerships, which have been central to the programme.  As the Industry Project Lead for the Value Toolkit, Ellie is responsible for guiding the project through its extensive industry pilot phase and has worked very closely on the Value Toolkit development. With a background in social sustainability, in-depth knowledge of the project and stakeholders, she is well equipped to lead the toolkit through the pivotal pilot phase.

Ellie is also a Partner at Akerlof, a market-leading consultancy that specialises in integrating Modern Methods of Construction to realise better social, environmental, and economic outcomes. With over 10 years of experience in social impact, community engagement and stakeholder management, Ellie has substantial experience of working with private and public sector clients to optimise outcomes.

Experienced in balancing long-term strategic priorities with pragmatic solutions to maximise, measure and evaluate value in the built environment; Ellie previously led the social impact and community team for a Tier 1 contractor.

Louise Lado-Byrnes

Louise is a Director and owner of IPInitiatives who developed the IPI Model. She has a background in main contracting in her earlier career, from a degree in construction management and design, and latterly Collaborative Consultancy.

Louise is a trained facilitator, trainer and is a practitioner of using numerous psychometric tools. She has a key interest in people, behaviours and practical implementation of processes. Louise ran some of the first behavioural workshop as part of the procurement and selection process for major frameworks in the early 2000s. Louise is a Director of IPInitiatives responsible for Behavioural Analysis and Facilitation on projects.

Louise is passionate about changes required in the industry and wants the race to the bottom , poor overheads and ‘design and dump’ to end!

She believes that our industry is ripe for change but struggles to find those truly brave enough!

Rhys Gadsby

Since joining the Glenigan Economics Team in 2019, Rhys has established himself as a trusted advisor to the construction industry; authoring a number of regular market reports, while also producing bespoke industry analysis, supporting Glenigan customers in understanding their markets and developing their business strategies.

Glenigan is the trusted provider of UK and Republic of Ireland construction project intelligence and is uniquely placed to offer the most comprehensive and complete picture of industry activity. This insight is trusted by HM Government, the Office of National Statistics, leading trade bodies and media titles as well as contractors, product and material manufacturers and service providers to the industry.

Noel Street

Noel has worked with Construction Excellence for over 15 years and is currently the Chair of CE Midlands – Climate Crisis Theme Group that provides an industry wide platform to discuss, share and challenge ‘Whole Life Carbon’ thinking, learning and adoption.

As a qualified RIBA Chartered Architect, Noel has an in-depth knowledge of complex developments operating in a highly regulated and commercially fluid environment. He has extensive experience, gained over 30 years, of developing and managing client and project team relations, project managing, programming and delivering positive outturns on large scale, often complex, projects and frameworks, across the diverse sectors of Public and Private in the UK.

A familiar face across the Midland property scene, Noel’s creativity and energy has been responsible for running and growing a series of major architectural practices in the Midlands, developing their overarching strategies and staff training programmes for Whole Life Carbon thinking, Environmental Management Strategy (ISO14001 2015) and Health, Fire & Safety.

Noel is passionate to challenge architects, and the whole design team, to produce smart designs and use available technologies to ensure that structures generate minimal harmful effects to the ecosystem and their communities.

Steve Green

 

MCIOB CQP MCQI MaPM

Steve works with the National Frameworks Team at Bowmer and Kirkland, following over 45 years in construction. Working for both National and Regional Contractors in Commercial, Design Management, Procurement and Business Improvement roles, Steve has a wealth of experience from a multitude of perspectives.

Steve is the Chair of the CE Midlands Building Safety Theme Group and a Member of the Get It Right Initiatives (GIRI) Technology and Error Metric Working Groups. Steve has first-hand experience of managing the immediate response to the Grenfell tragedy, from a contractors perspective and is keen to accelerate the behavioural change required following the tragedy.

Richard Cymler

Having worked in the building control sector for more than 35 years, Richard uses his extensive experience of complex projects to help expand Ball & Berry’s Birmingham office and portfolio.

Supporting clients through the challenges of building control, inspections and regulations, Richard works to ensure his team deliver the highest level of support to clients.

His specialisms include building control services, offices, industrial, sports stadia and education.

Richard is responsible for the day to day management and running of our Birmingham office, as well as leading on high-value projects, maintaining client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.

Richard is an established industry figurehead, regularly delivering seminars for the CIOB and as a qualified business coach and ACAS accredited mediator, focuses on upskilling team members to ensure we are recognised as the leading corporate Approved Inspector within Birmingham, the Midlands and further afield

Dhiran Vagdia

Dhiran is a chartered architect, and is a director of Vagdia and Holmes, Chartered Architects, Coventry.

He schooled in Coventry, and read architecture at the University of Nottingham. He became a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects in February 2003, and is now a practising architect, running an architectural practice based in Coventry.

The Practice client and project portfolio include ecclesiastical buildings, conservation work, private one-off residential projects, retail and commercial projects, and developer-led initiatives.

Dhiran has contributed significantly to the profession and to the industry, through roles such as chairing the RIBA West Midlands, chairing the local Constructing Excellence Group FORCE, and a Past Chair of the Coventry Branch of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce.

Dan Bridgewater

Partner and Chartered Architect at Baily Garner. Baily Garner has a solid track record of “growing our own” which is achieved through bringing the right people into the business from the foundations. Dan has led Baily Garner’s award-winning apprenticeship recruitment scheme in the Midlands.
